Salon Search

Early in his career, Dan joined forces with two ambitious entrepreneurs to launch a digital marketplace for health and beauty services, spanning salons, tattoo studios, and barbershops across Canada. While his co-founders brought deep domain expertise, Dan led the technical development, driven by a deep passion for the internet and the emerging world of e-commerce. The platform gained early traction but eventually shut down in 2007 after facing intense competition from rising giants like Yelp. The experience gave Dan a crash course in innovation, resilience, and the real-world challenges of building a startup in a fast-moving market.

Branco Professional Services

Dan’s early entrepreneurial work focused on industrial mobile software for retail logistics — at a time when mobile technology was just starting to reshape the enterprise landscape. With platforms like Windows CE and Mobile beginning to appear on rugged hardware from Symbol Technologies, Telxon, and Motorola, Dan became one of the few developers in Canada with deep, hands-on experience in this emerging space.

Building on his success developing mobile applications for Loblaws, he was contracted to deliver solutions for other major national retailers, including Canadian Tire, Sobeys, and Shoppers Drug Mart. Many of the tools he built during this period remain in use in warehouses across the country today.

GSI Solutions

Since 2009, GSI Solutions has been a trusted technology partner for startups and mid-sized companies, delivering scalable, cost-effective software and integration services. Under Dan’s leadership, the firm has built a reputation for solving complex problems with cost-effective, yet high-performing solutions. With a cloud-first, data-first, and low-code approach, GSI has helped hundreds of clients modernize their operations and unlock long-term value. Many continue to rely on the firm’s expertise year after year.

Dial9

Dial9 was a Toronto-based digital marketing agency that supported major Canadian brands, including the LCBO, OLG, H&R Block, and The Toronto Star. Dan played a key role in building the agency into a high-performing operation, leading a skilled team of creatives and technologists to deliver strong, reliable results. When one of his co-founders retired, the team decided to sell the agency to a larger group called One Communications. This transition allowed Dan to refocus on software product development through his other company, GSI Solutions.

BIG Healthcare

BIG Healthcare was Dan’s most ambitious startup to date. The company developed a SaaS business intelligence platform for healthcare institutions that analyzes and benchmarks financial performance. The platform was widely adopted by hospitals across Canada and delivered measurable improvements in operational efficiency during a period of urgent need within the sector. After successfully founding the company and leading product development, Dan sold his stake in order to focus on new opportunities, confident in his co-founder’s ability to carry the vision forward. Today, BIG Healthcare continues to grow, supporting hospitals and long-term care facilities across Canada and beyond.

Dan's experience across industries

Throughout his career, Dan has developed technology solutions across a broad range of industries, including supply chain, finance, retail, marketing, healthcare, and automotive.

He has worked with major retailers like Canadian Tire and Sobeys to streamline supply chain operations, built pick-and-pack fulfillment systems for eGrocer, and led the creation of award-winning interactive websites for global retail brands such as Reebok.

In the financial sector, Dan has developed white-label digital banking products for one of Canada’s top banks. In the digital advertising space, he has built ad-tech solutions for clients including eBay, Kijiji, Gumtree and Microsoft.

His work in healthcare includes developing BIG Healthcare, a SaaS platform that enables hospitals and long-term care facilities to benchmark and optimize their financial performance.

This depth and variety of experience, gained from serving hundreds of clients over more than two decades, gives Dan a unique ability to see patterns, anticipate challenges, and deliver strategic solutions. Every engagement benefits from this well of insight and his ongoing commitment to practical, high-impact innovation.
